A Worldwide Class of 13 Ventures Joins the 2026 Unreasonable Food Program
HOSPITALITY

Mars and Unreasonable Group announced the thirteen ventures joining the 2026 Unreasonable Food™ cohort.
Mars and Unreasonable Group have announced the 2026 cohort of Unreasonable Food™, introducing thirteen ventures from across the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Portugal, and India. These entrepreneurs are tackling some of the most urgent challenges in the global food system, from gut health and nutrition innovation to food safety, protein fortification, and circularity. Their mission aligns with the collaboration’s core goal: accelerating growth‑stage ventures that can build a more nutritious, sustainable, and equitable food future.
Since its launch in 2024, Unreasonable Food has already demonstrated measurable impact. The first cohort reported nearly $200 million in additional revenue, 140,000 tons of CO₂e avoided, 310 million liters of water conserved, and expanded access to nutritious food for 24 million people.
A Strategic Collaboration for System‑Wide Change
Amanda Davies, Chief R&D, Commercial and Sustainability Officer for Mars Snacking, emphasized that creating “better snacks and a better planet” requires innovation across the entire food system, from soil to snack. The 2026 cohort reflects this ambition, focusing on six critical areas: gut health, ingredient innovation, protein enhancement, data‑driven wellness, food safety, and circularity.
Fiber & Gut Health Innovators
Superbrewed Food — Precision postbiotic ingredients made from microbial cells, delivering dairy‑like protein and digestive support.
Myota — Prebiotic fiber blends tested in randomized controlled trials to support diverse gut microbiomes.
Holobiome — Mapping interactions between gut bacteria, biology, and diet to develop new consumer products and therapeutics.
Ingredient & Nutrition Innovation
Kuli Kuli — Superfoods like moringa grown through partnerships with small farming communities and sold in 11,000 U.S. stores.
BIOVIT — Plant‑ and fungi‑derived vitamins and minerals with clinically proven bioavailability.
Lasso Labs — A spinning process that gives foods meat‑like texture without additives or high heat.
Protein Enhancement & Functional Protein
Nutrition from Water — Microalgae‑based complete protein grown in fermentation tanks at up to three times lower cost.
Revyve — Yeast‑based ingredients that mimic egg functionality for emulsifying, gelling, and binding.
Data & Wellness Platforms
FoodHealth — A nutrient‑density scoring system (1–100) that helps shoppers and brands evaluate food quality.
HowGood — Sustainability intelligence powered by the world’s largest ingredient‑impact database.
Radicle Science — Large‑scale clinical trials bringing scientific rigor to supplements and wellness products.
Food Safety & Circularity
Spore Bio — Rapid contamination detection for food, beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Without — Recycling multi‑layer plastics and mixed textiles into premium materials while creating dignified jobs for waste‑picker communities.
A Growing Global Network of Food Innovators
The cohort gathers in Windham, New York, joining founders from the 2024 and 2025 groups in a global network supported by Mars teams, Unreasonable mentors, and investors. Daniel Epstein, CEO of Unreasonable Group, noted that changing how food is grown, made, and moved is one of the most practical levers for building a resilient future, and it requires founders bold enough to rethink the system.
Across all three cohorts, the mission remains clear: transform food supply chains and shape the future of food. This year’s ventures bring scalable solutions that could redefine nutrition, sustainability, and resilience for generations to come.
