SoundExchange, the world’s largest neighboring rights organization, is celebrating the return of RoyalTeas, its acclaimed YouTube interview series exploring the business of music and the realities behind royalties. The newly launched second season introduces Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men as host, marking his evolution from season‑one guest to the series’ lead conversational voice.
A Star‑Powered Lineup for Season Two
Season two premiered earlier this summer with Stockman interviewing Khalid, the six‑time Grammy‑nominated artist whose global success has reshaped modern R&B. Upcoming episodes feature an impressive roster of talent, including:
Tori Kelly
Leslie Grace
Chance the Rapper
AJ McLean
Margaret Cho
David Archuleta
Jane Handcock
These conversations dive into the realities of building a sustainable career, navigating royalties, and balancing artistry with business, themes central to SoundExchange’s mission.
A Platform Built for Honest Industry Dialogue
Launched in 2025, RoyalTeas brings together generational artists to unpack the business behind their craft. Season one, hosted by Annabelle Klein, featured guests such as Leslie Odom Jr., Mýa, Noah Cyrus, Ravyn Lenae, Scott Hoying, Trevor Jackson, and Stockman himself. The series quickly gained traction, generating more than 10 million views across platforms, including 1.8 million YouTube views.
Stockman says the series offers a rare space for artists to discuss topics often overlooked in mainstream interviews:
“RoyalTeas has created a unique space for artists to have critical conversations around the business side of music that are rarely discussed. I’m honored to take a turn as host for the second season.”
Supporting Artists Through Transparency and Education
RoyalTeas is produced as part of SoundExchange’s broader mission to make it easier for creators to get paid. Since its founding in 2003, SoundExchange has distributed more than $13 billion in cumulative digital royalty payments to over 850,000 artists and rights owners. The organization also provides international royalty service coverage for 93% of the global neighboring rights market, collecting worldwide royalties for nearly 600,000 creators.
By spotlighting real‑world experiences from established artists, RoyalTeas helps emerging creators better understand the complexities of royalties, rights management, and long‑term career sustainability.
New Episodes Rolling Out All Season
Full episodes of RoyalTeas season two are available on the SoundExchange YouTube channel, with clips and highlights shared across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X. New episodes will continue to roll out throughout the season, offering ongoing insights into the evolving music landscape.
