Intuit celebrates this nationwide launch of the Flagship store with Issa Rae, Anderson .Paak & the Free Nationals, Aaron Judge and other special guests.

As the 2026 tax season begins, Intuit is introducing a significant shift in its delivery model. Today, the company opened a new TurboTax flagship store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, marking the completion of a nationwide expansion that includes nearly 600 Expert Office locations and 20 physical TurboTax stores.

The move represents Intuit’s "AI+HI" (Artificial Intelligence + Human Intelligence) strategy, designed to bridge the gap between digital convenience and in-person expertise.

A Departure from Traditional Tax Preparation

The SoHo flagship at 463 Broadway is a stark departure from the utilitarian aesthetic typical of local tax offices. Designed in partnership with the architectural firm Gensler, the space features "The Forum," a 30-foot-wide digital screen providing financial education through ambient animations.

The store’s layout is optimized for three distinct filing modalities:

  1. "Done-For-You" Automation: Intuit’s agentic AI automates data entry for 90% of common tax forms, often preparing up to 80% of a simple return before the customer even begins.

  2. "Do It With Me" (DIWM): A community workspace where filers maintain control while receiving on-site support.

  3. Full Service: Private offices where customers can hand off their entire return to an on-site tax expert matched to their situation by an AI-driven system.

Seamless Digital-to-Physical Integration

Central to the 2026 strategy is a "connected platform" that unites TurboTax and Credit Karma. This integration allows for a fluid digital handoff; a customer can start their return on their phone and finish it in a physical store with a local expert who picks up exactly where the digital session left off.

“We are fundamentally redefining what it means to get taxes done by delivering a first-of-its-kind seamless integration of our digital and physical experience,” said Mark Notarainni, EVP and General Manager of Intuit’s Consumer Group.

Strategic Retail Footprint

Intuit’s physical expansion is focused on major metropolitan hubs, with stores opening in:

  • New York: Locations in SoHo, Harlem, Williamsburg, and Garden City.

  • Southern California: Costa Mesa, Pasadena, and Culver City.

  • Chicago: The Armitage and Fulton neighborhoods.

  • Texas & Arizona: Locations in Dallas and Scottsdale.

To mark the flagship opening, Intuit hosted an event featuring guests like Issa Rae and Aaron Judge, alongside a $100,000 donation to New York City Public Schools to support financial literacy programs.

The "Humanized" AI Trend

For years, the industry trend was toward complete automation. However, Intuit’s massive investment in nearly 600 physical locations suggests a pivot back toward human connection. In 2026, the brands that win in the financial sector are those that use AI not to replace the human expert, but to empower them, providing a "physical manifestation" of trust in an increasingly digital world.
