Universal Pictures and Xfinity Creative Teams Bring Wicked’s World of Oz to Life.

In anticipation of the epic cinematic conclusion Wicked: For Good, Comcast’s Xfinity has released a dazzling new short film starring none other than Jeff Goldblum, reprising his role as The Wizard of Oz. This creative collaboration is the latest expression of Xfinity’s new “Imagine That” brand platform, demonstrating how reliable technology can seamlessly power the most magical experiences inside the home.

The short film, released today, captures the whimsical spirit of the blockbuster, bringing the world of Oz to life through the imagination of a child. It follows Goldblum as he returns home after the premiere of Wicked: For Good, only to discover how Xfinity’s integrated product suite powers wonder in his own life—from reliable WiFi to powerful entertainment and smart home connectivity. Fans of the musical phenomenon will delight in the many special nods to the film woven throughout the spot, which even features cameos by Goldblum’s wife and their two children .

Magic Without Smoke and Mirrors

The core message of the campaign, according to Jon Gieselman, Chief Growth Officer, Connectivity & Platforms at Comcast, is that Xfinity delivers true "wonder" through powerful innovation.

“The Wicked films show us that magic lives inside all of us, Xfinity does the same inside our homes,” said Gieselman. “With the most reliable and intelligent WiFi, the fastest mobile service, blockbuster entertainment, and security solutions that protect what matters most, we deliver more than technology. We deliver wonder. No spells, no smoke and mirrors - just powerful innovation working together to wow our customers every day.”

The creative effort behind the short film was a massive, collaborative undertaking, uniting teams from Universal Pictures, Xfinity Creative, and the agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P). The piece was directed by Alice Brooks, the acclaimed director of photography for the Wicked films, ensuring an authentic cinematic feel. Even the score features notes from Wicked anthems like "Wonderful" and "Defying Gravity," composed by Batu Sener.

How to Follow the Yellow Brick Road (with your Remote)

The new short film is a brilliant showcase of the seamless way Xfinity’s products work together. The Xfinity ecosystem connects everything from the smartest and most reliable WiFi via the Xfinity Gateway to gigabit speeds on Xfinity Mobile and a robust Entertainment Experience that aggregates live TV and over 450 streaming apps.

For movie fans eager to dive deeper into the world of Oz, Xfinity has made access simple:

  • View the Content: Xfinity customers can find the full short film, a behind-the-scenes video, and more Wicked: For Good content simply by saying “Wicked: For Good” into their Xfinity Voice Remote.

  • See It Big: A 60-second version of the short film will also be playing in theaters nationwide ahead of the Wicked: For Good premiere on November 21st.
