Bilt has announced a special partnership with John Legend for its October Rent Day program, creating a campaign that combines entertainment, housing support, and educational philanthropy. The collaboration arrives ahead of the October 23 release of Legend’s new album, Muse, which was produced and co-written by Pharrell Williams. Advance tracks including “Fireflies” and lead single “Daylight” offer an early look at the project.
The initiative gives Bilt members access to a variety of exclusive experiences while also helping students facing housing affordability challenges. According to the company, the campaign is built around four key experiences tied to the album release and student support efforts.
Helping Students Cover Rent and Stay in School
At the center of the partnership is a commitment to support college students. In collaboration with John Legend, Bilt will help cover rent for 50 students attending four universities personally selected by the artist.
The schools include:
Morehouse College
Central State University
Wilberforce University, the nation’s oldest private Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
The University of Pennsylvania, Legend’s alma mater
Beginning on Rent Day, members will also be able to donate Bilt Points to Scholarship America, an organization that helps students access funding needed to attend and complete college. The donations will specifically support students living off campus who may be at risk of eviction. Bilt noted that 100% of donated points will go directly to Scholarship America.
The importance of such support is highlighted by a key statistic shared in the announcement: six in ten students cannot afford college without financial assistance.
Exclusive Experiences for Bilt Members
The October Rent Day campaign extends beyond philanthropy with a series of music-focused experiences for members. One of the most anticipated features is Rent Free™, a game in which members can win a month of free rent. The outcome depends on how well John Legend performs while answering questions, creating an interactive element for participants.
Members will also have the opportunity to:
Pre-order a Bilt-exclusive vinyl edition of Muse
Receive a custom album cover available only through Bilt
Enter for a chance to attend a private John Legend performance in San Francisco on October 21
The limited-edition vinyl is available for pre-order while supplies last and will ship alongside the album’s broader release on October 23.
Why the Collaboration Matters
For Bilt, the partnership reflects its mission of connecting housing, lifestyle experiences, and community impact. Company founder and CEO Ankur Jain described Legend’s music as part of many of life’s defining moments, making the artist a natural fit for the Rent Day platform.
For John Legend, the initiative aligns with his long-standing support for education and opportunity. By helping students manage housing costs while promoting access to scholarships, the collaboration addresses one of the most significant financial pressures facing college students today.
Music, Housing, and Opportunity Come Together
The October Rent Day campaign demonstrates how brands and artists can combine entertainment with meaningful social impact. Through free-rent opportunities, exclusive access to Muse, scholarship donations, and direct housing assistance for students, the partnership creates benefits that extend far beyond a traditional album promotion.
As the release of Muse approaches, Bilt and John Legend are using the spotlight not only to celebrate new music but also to help students overcome financial barriers and continue pursuing their education.
