Regal Brings Iconic Origin Stories and Director Debuts Back to the Big Screen

Regal launched its "Back to the Beginning" movie programming, a curated film series featuring origin stories and famous firsts
As the calendar flips to January, offering a time of fresh starts, Regal is inviting moviegoers to look back at where some of cinema's biggest stories began. The theater chain is excited to announce the launch of its “Back to the Beginning” movie programming, a special curated film series running across the 31 days of January.
This month-long event will feature a daily rotation of iconic origin stories and the famous first features from internationally acclaimed filmmakers, giving fans a chance to experience these foundational cinematic moments the way they were meant to be seen, on the big screen.
“Repertory films in the Back to the Beginning program introduce iconic characters from widely popular movie franchises and represent the early creative vision of some internationally acclaimed filmmakers,” said Brooks LeBoeuf, Senior Vice President of US Content at Regal. "From action flicks to heroic tales to fantasy epics to gritty crime dramas, the Beginning series brings what were once unknown adventures and unfamiliar creators back to the big screen."
Weekly Themes and Highlights
The “Back to the Beginning” series is divided into five thematic weeks, ensuring there’s something for every film fan:
Week One: Heroes Assemble (Jan 1 – Jan 7) Kick off the year with the start of major franchises, featuring films like John Wick (2014), Spider-Man (2002), Batman Begins (2005), and Mission: Impossible (1996).
Week Three: From the Director's Chair – Day One (Jan 15 – Jan 21) This week is dedicated to showcasing the first features from cinematic masters, including Rian Johnson’s Brick (2005), Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs (1992), Jordan Peele’s Get Out (2017), and Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird (2017). The series will also feature Christopher Nolan’s debut feature, Following (1998).
Week Four: Worlds in Chaos (Jan 22 – Jan 28) Dive into epic world-building and dystopian visions with groundbreaking films such as Gladiator (2000), Dune (2021), The Matrix (1999), and the original director’s cut of Blade Runner (1982).

The films featured in the series are reminders of moments that shaped the cinematic landscape. Even celebrated director Christopher Nolan expressed his gratitude for the series: “My gratitude goes to the fans who continually show up to experience independent films on the big screen and to Independent Film Company for their commitment in bringing my debut feature back to theatres.”
Regal is making it easy and affordable to enjoy these classics. Admission for each re-release in the “Back to the Beginning” program is just $7.99. Additionally, members of the Regal Unlimited subscription program can include these films as part of their monthly membership.
