Smartsheet announced the addition of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise connections for its MCP Server, joining existing support for Anthropic’s Claude.

Smartsheet has announced a major expansion of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, adding new enterprise‑grade connections to ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise. These integrations join existing support for Anthropic’s Claude, giving organizations the ability to connect their preferred AI assistants directly to live Smartsheet work data.

The update reflects Smartsheet’s mission to bring AI to where complex work actually happens, not as a standalone tool, but as an intelligence layer embedded across the systems teams already use. With these new connections, enterprise users can take AI‑powered actions from any major assistant without switching platforms, losing context, or rebuilding workflows.

Context From 20 Years of Operational Data

Unlike traditional AI connectors that offer limited read‑only access, Smartsheet’s MCP Server is built to give assistants a full understanding of how work flows across an organization. The system is grounded in two decades of operational data, enabling AI tools to return actionable, context‑rich insights rather than generic summaries.

This means AI can:

  • Surface risks and bottlenecks

  • Recommend next steps

  • Update work items

  • Create tasks and move projects forward

Because the intelligence comes from live Smartsheet data, teams get consistent, accurate insights whether they’re working inside Smartsheet or through their preferred AI assistant.

AI Built Directly Into Smartsheet

Alongside the new integrations, Smartsheet unveiled Smart Assist, a native AI companion designed for teams who prefer to work directly inside the platform. Smart Assist uses the same live work intelligence as external AI tools, giving users a unified experience regardless of where they engage with AI.

This dual‑surface approach, external assistants + native AI, ensures that every team member, from project managers to executives, can access the same insights in the environment that works best for them.

Rapid Adoption Highlights Enterprise Demand

Since launching the MCP Server with Claude in March, Smartsheet has seen immediate and significant adoption. The company reports:

  • Over 22,000 unique users

  • More than 3 million AI actions taken since launch

  • Weekly active users growing nearly 9x since week one

  • Tool call volume rising from 42,000 to more than 700,000 per week

The first 10 days of June alone saw 860,000+ AI actions, with back‑to‑back record days on June 9 and 10.

These numbers underscore the demand for AI that understands organizational context, and the value of connecting AI tools directly to live work data.

A New Era of Enterprise Work Intelligence

With the addition of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Cloud Gemini Enterprise, Smartsheet is positioning its MCP Server as a central intelligence hub for enterprise AI. Teams can now take any AI action, through any major assistant, without lock‑in or workflow disruption, and with the confidence that every insight is grounded in real, up‑to‑date work data.

As Chief Product and Technology Officer Pratima Arora explains, the challenge isn’t access to AI, it’s giving AI the context it needs to understand how an organization actually works. Smartsheet’s MCP Server is designed to solve exactly that.
