As brands evolve, their visual identity often becomes a reflection of both their heritage and their future ambitions. For Society Awards, a company credited with creating the luxury awards category, that evolution has arrived in the form of a comprehensive rebrand designed to mark its next chapter. As it approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027, the company has introduced a new brand identity and digital experience aimed at reinforcing its position as the premier luxury awards brand in the world.
The transformation brings together two influential creative figures: Paula Scher, partner at Pentagram, who developed the new visual identity, and luxury designer Ming Lam, a longtime collaborator who led the redesign of the company’s digital experience.
More Than a Logo Redesign
According to Society Awards, this initiative goes far beyond updating a logo or refreshing a website. Instead, it represents a broader effort to define what luxury recognition should look and feel like in a category the company helped establish nearly two decades ago.
When the company was founded, there was no established blueprint for a luxury awards brand. Rather than follow conventions from the trophy industry, Society Awards drew inspiration from luxury sectors including haute horology, fine jewelry, exotic automobiles, and high-end craftsmanship. Those industries provided a framework for creating products that conveyed prestige, permanence, and artistry.
The result was a distinctive approach that elevated awards from traditional recognition pieces into objects associated with luxury design and world-class craftsmanship.
Building a Luxury Category From Scratch
David Moritz, founder and CEO of Society Awards, explained that the company’s mission from the beginning was to define how a luxury award should be presented and experienced.
Rather than simply creating beautiful objects, the company sought to build an entire brand ecosystem around them. That vision shaped everything from visual storytelling and product presentation to client experience and digital design.
According to Moritz, luxury awards should evoke glamour, craftsmanship, dignity, and a sense of mystery while remaining approachable and practical for clients.
A Collaboration With Creative Leaders
The original Society Awards identity was developed in partnership with Ming Lam, whose work helped establish a visual language unique to the luxury awards industry. Drawing from fashion, jewelry, art, and watchmaking, Lam created an aesthetic that distinguished Society Awards from both traditional trophy manufacturers and luxury brands in unrelated categories.
For its latest evolution, Society Awards turned to Paula Scher, one of the most influential graphic designers in the world and a partner at Pentagram. Her involvement reflects the company’s commitment to maintaining a design-forward approach as it enters its third decade.
Together, Scher and Lam have helped shape a visual identity intended to honor the company’s heritage while positioning it for future growth.
Celebrating Two Decades of Growth
Over the past two decades, Society Awards has evolved from an ambitious startup into a prominent name in luxury recognition. The company’s portfolio now includes work for globally recognized televised award shows, major cultural organizations, iconic brands, and thousands of custom-designed pieces created for prestigious events and institutions.
Its continued success has helped establish luxury awards as a category in its own right, one defined by design excellence, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
Looking Toward the Future
As Society Awards approaches its 20th anniversary, the new brand identity represents both a celebration of its achievements and a foundation for future innovation. The refreshed visual system and digital experience are designed to reinforce the company’s leadership position while continuing to elevate the role awards play in recognizing achievement and excellence.
For a company built on honoring extraordinary accomplishments, the rebrand serves as a reminder that standing still is never an option. Instead, Society Awards is embracing the same principles that helped define its success from the beginning: creativity, craftsmanship, and a relentless pursuit of distinction.
