Sunseeker Robotics Brings AI-Powered Lawn Care to North America with the X Gen 2 Series
TECHNOLOGY

2026 Sunseeker Elite Family: X9, X7 Gen 2, X5 Gen 2, X4.
If you've ever spent a sweaty Saturday afternoon pushing a mower around your yard, Sunseeker Robotics has a pitch for you. The company officially debuted its X Gen 2 robotic lawn mower series at Pepcom's Spring Spectacular at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York this week, unveiling what it describes as a ground-up reinvention of wire-free autonomous lawn care, one built specifically for North American yards and their notoriously demanding terrain.
Built for Every Yard, From Suburban Lots to Sprawling Estates
Sunseeker operates under a dual-brand strategy. The premium Sunseeker Elite line covers lawns from 0.3 to 6 acres, with the X Gen 2 Series at its core. The mass-market Sunseeker line serves everyday residential users, including the LiDAR-equipped S4, a CES Innovation Awards 2026 Honoree and the first lawn mower to receive that recognition in three years. Both lines are now available through the online channels of Lowe's, Walmart, and The Home Depot.
What's New in the X Gen 2
The headline upgrades aren't just spec-sheet polish, they represent meaningful leaps in how a robotic mower perceives and moves through your yard.
The X5 Gen 2 is designed for standard residential terrain, featuring an 8.7-inch single cutting disc, a micro-blade edge deck that cuts as close as 1.2 inches to boundaries, and a 60% climbing capacity. The larger X7 Gen 2 and X7 Plus Gen 2 step up to a 14-inch dual cutting disc, a 70% climbing capacity, and Target Height Management with continuous height adjustment from 0.8 to 4.0 inches for tackling taller grass in multiple passes.
Three core technology upgrades power the whole lineup. VSLAM 2.0, fused with the RTK-powered AONavi™ navigation system, delivers precise mapping even in signal-blocked areas, sustaining up to one hour of operation in GPS-denied environments, six times the runtime of the previous generation, all without buried boundary wires. A 10 TOPS high-performance chip doubles processing power, enabling faster mowing paths and quicker obstacle response. And Vision AI 2.0 adds an iToF camera to enable reliable day-and-night operation, with enhanced detection of floating obstacles like trampolines and swings, plus more precise edge tracking along boundaries.
For challenging ground, the proprietary ATC (All-Terrain Conquer) System combines three-wheel all-wheel drive, front suspension, and rear active steering for traction on slopes and uneven surfaces, while staying gentle on turf. Third-generation LORA technology keeps the mower and its RTK base station in stable communication without relying on a 4G network.
Also in the Lineup: The X4's 360° LiDAR
The X4, also showcased at the event, brings an industry-leading 360° 3D LiDAR system to compact yards, scanning at 6,000 rpm across a full horizontal field of view and generating up to 210,000 point clouds per second. A monocular camera fills low-angle blind spots for smarter obstacle avoidance.
Growing Roots in North America
Sunseeker isn't just launching products, it's building a local presence. The company announced a three-year partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies, drawing a parallel between baseball's pursuit of precision and Sunseeker's centimeter-level positioning accuracy.
On the leadership front, Dave Luczynski joins as Vice President of Retail Sales and Marketing, and Douglas Suessegger as Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, both tasked with driving growth across retail and commercial channels throughout the region.
For homeowners tired of spending their weekends behind a mower, the timing of Sunseeker's North American push looks well-calculated. The technology is genuinely impressive, the retail distribution is broad, and the company is clearly committed for the long haul.
